Important information:
The Maxhütte Bergen, formerly the largest and most important ironworks in Bavaria, was founded as early as 1561. Many businesses (hammer smiths, wire makers, nail smiths) were established in its vicinity and provided a livelihood for around 1000 people. The museum presents the history of the ironworks in a vivid way. It explains how iron was extracted and processed and shows how people lived and worked here.
