Lokwelt Freilassing (Lokwelt Freilassing)
In the 1970s and 1980s, over 1000 Freilassingers were employed by the railway. Today, only the museum in the Lokwelt is a reminder of the railway's heyday there. The centrepiece of the layout is the round locomotive shed built between 1902 and 1905 with its turntable. Here you can see locomotives from the Deutsches Museum (German Museum) (series E 16, E 44 or E 03 and a Bavarian express steam locomotive from 1874), exhibits on the subject of railways and a model railway with a faithful reproduction of the Freilassing depot. A locomotive simulator gives young and old the opportunity to slip into the role of the locomotive driver themselves. The "Little Locomotive World", specially designed for children between 6 and 12 years of age, lets them experience railways and technology with all their senses.
