Ballonmuseum Gersthofen (Balloon Museum Gersthofen)

Things are colourful in Gersthofen - and have been for over 200 years. In a former water tower with a spacious extension, the Ballonmuseum Gersthofen (Balloon Museum Gersthofen) tells the story of ballooning, which is traditionally closely linked to Gersthofen and Augsburg as centres of balloon manufacturing. For example, the first balloon flight attempt by a German took place here in 1786, and the spectacular research flight in 1931, during which a manned balloon reached the stratosphere for the first time, was also launched in Gersthofen. In addition, the visitor learns everything about technology and production, ballooning, the scientific and military use of the balloon, disasters and records on his tour.
