The Bionicum at Nuremberg Zoo is an interactive exhibition that gives visitors an understanding of the connection between nature and technology. Covering an exhibition area of around 400 m², children and adults can learn how biological principles serve as a model for technical innovations and what role bionics plays in a sustainable future.
The exhibition provides in-depth knowledge on topics such as biodiversity, nature conservation, evolution and innovative developments. Original exhibits, digital stations and hands-on experiments invite visitors to discover and try things out for themselves.
Why can a lizard swim effortlessly in the sand? How does a spider spin its impressive web? What makes the blow so fast? What does it look like when robots dance? You can find out at the Bionicum.
A special highlight is the bionic tour of the zoo, where visitors can experience the biological models directly at the animal enclosures. Admission to the Bionicum is free for zoo visitors. The exhibition is complemented by regular robot demonstrations, which take place every weekend, during Bavarian school holidays and on public holidays at 12:00 and 15:00. Educational programmes and workshops on various topics can be booked free of charge and are aimed at school classes, groups and individual visitors.
The Bionicum offers an exciting and educational addition to a visit to the zoo and impressively demonstrates how nature can be used as a source of inspiration for sustainable technologies.
