Event: The Great Fire of 1796 and G. F. Theiler

Sunday, 20 September 2026, 14:00

Guided tour of the city

Location: Heimatmuseum Ebermannstadt (Museum of local history Ebermannstadt)

To accompany the current special exhibition on G. Friedrich Theiler (1748–1826) at the Ebermannstadt Local History Museum, this guided tour takes a look at the town fire of 1796 and its far-reaching consequences for the town – in particular, the role played by St Mary’s Chapel. At that time, a large district of the town was destroyed by the fire, whilst the chapel was one of the few buildings to survive the disaster almost unscathed. We will examine how the interior was restored and refurbished, including through the work of the sculptor F. Theiler. During the tour, we will visit various sites associated with F. Theiler.

The cost of the tour is to be paid in cash directly at the museum.

Cost: Adults: €8.00, Children aged 12 and over: €6.00

Please book in advance at heimatmuseum@ebermannstadt.de or on 09194/506-99 (Tuesdays 9–11 am)
