: "Not quite kosher"
Sunday, 18 October 2026, 18:00 - 20:00
Comedy film and interfaith panel discussion
Location: Erinnerungsort Badehaus (Place of remembrance bathhouse)
To escape his family's attempts to set him up with a partner, Ben, an Orthodox Jew, spontaneously offers to fly to Alexandria to save what was once the largest Jewish community in the world. They are in urgent need of a tenth man to celebrate Passover. In the Sinai desert, Adel, a grumpy Bedouin searching for his runaway camel, becomes Ben's last hope. The only way forward for both men is together, but how do you combine ultra-Orthodox religious practices from Brooklyn with Bedouin pragmatism? When the car breaks down, it's no longer just about sharing a meal, but about sheer survival.
Following the comedy film, Prof. Dr. C. Bernd Sucher, Chairman of the Liberal Jewish Community Beth Shalom e.V., Gönül Yerli from the Islamic Community of Penzberg, the Catholic parish priest of Bad Tölz, Peter Demmelmair, the Protestant dean Florian Gruber from Wolfratshausen and Assunta Tammelleo from the Bund für Geistesfreiheit (Association for Freedom of Thought) in Waldram will discuss the relationship between religions in the film and in reality.
