Event: Art makes it possible!

Sunday, 17 May 2026, 15:30 - 16:30

Art as a connecting link between heterogeneous societies in Roman antiquity

Location: Römerlager - Das Römische Augsburg in Kisten (Roman Camp - Roman Augsburg in Boxes)

Entry: free

In ancient Rome, art played a central role in connecting heterogeneous societies. In an empire consisting of diverse cultures, languages and traditions, art created common forms of expression and symbols that bridged social differences. Monumental architecture, public imagery and everyday art objects communicated Roman values, promoted identity and belonging, and at the same time enabled local communities to contribute their own traditions. Art thus became an effective link between the many cultures of the Roman Empire.
