Geopark tour to Berndorf and Menchau

Location: Töpfermuseum Thurnau (Pottery Museum Thurnau)

To ensure that the delicious beer didn’t spill out but flowed only into thirsty throats, the potters of Thurnau applied a special glaze to their tankards. Geopark ranger Isabelle Stickling explains where the ingredients for this came from on a varied circular walk near Berndorf and Menchau, past many old rock cellars, rough pastures and the romantically situated Aubach spring, set in princely surroundings. Afterwards, there is the opportunity to visit the Berndorf Cellar Festival. Further information at www.geopark-bayern.de

Cost: €6, children up to 10 years €2, up to 14 years €4

Meeting point: Car park for the “Kellerfest” behind the Kolb joinery, Berndorf 71, 95349 Thurnau
