For those who do not know Middle High German: "Zeidel" is the old word for honey, so the Zeidel-Museum is a beekeeping museum. Honey played a major role in the Middle Ages as the only means of sweetening food and brewing mead. The fact that Feucht was the seat of a "Zeidel Court", which supervised the lawful ownership of bee colonies, shows the importance of the town. The museum in a historic half-timbered house recalls the beekeeping tradition of the Nuremberg Reichswald since the 14th century and presents an extensive collection of beekeeping equipment from the region and from all over Europe.
