Wolfsteiner Heimatmuseum im Schramlhaus (Wolfstein Museum of Local History in the Schramlhaus)
In the middle of Freyung stands the oldest rural property in the town: a mighty farm and craftsman's yard, built around 1700. The Wolfstein Museum of Local History shows objects on the history of the old district of Wolfstein and the town of Freyung as well as the rural living and working environment of the 18th and 19th centuries, The museum also exhibits traditional costumes and clothing, old handicrafts, miniature models of the "life and work of the Waidler", sacred folk art and a collection of over 120 reverse paintings on glass from Raimundsreut, Sandl, Buchers and Außergefild. A themed trail in the old orchard provides information about "Life on the Golden Climb", the historical salt trade route. The museum received a special award from the Free State of Bavaria in 2018. In the competition "100 Heimatschätze" (100 local treasures), the exhibit "Tragekissen" (carrying cushion) was awarded as an extraordinary treasure.
