Alongside Mespelbrunn, Schloss Mitwitz is the most important moated castle in Franconia. It received its external appearance in the 16th century. Many original furnishings still bear witness to its splendid decoration from the 16th to the 20th century. Particularly noteworthy is the Mirror Room with a cycle of paintings created in 1755, which is attributed to Georg Anton Urlaub (1713-1759).
