What does it feel like to stand next to a volcanic eruption? The Volcano Experience Parkstein (Volkanerlebnis Parkstein) is a safe place to do so. Every hour, a simulation illustrates the formation of the Parkstein volcanic vent, which today presents itself as an impressive basalt cone in the middle of the town of the same name. But there is even more to discover: In three sections, the exhibition provides information about the formation of Bavaria's southernmost volcano, local history and the fascinating volcanic landscape of Bavaria-Bohemia.
