Veste Oberhaus | Oberhausmuseum Passau (Museum at Oberhaus Fortress)
As the historical and art-historical museum of the city of Passau, the Oberhausmuseum has a lot to tell. There is plenty of space, as the Veste Oberhaus is one of the largest castle fortresses in Europe, covering 65,000 square metres. The museum covers a total of 3,000 square metres and displays Passau's myths and history, guilds and crafts, the Bohemian Forest Museum, Passau porcelain and even an old pharmacy. However, the focus is on life in the Middle Ages - the earthly and the hoped-for heavenly. Visitors take part in the everyday life and living environment of a Passau castle lord and his subjects and at the same time learn how religion and the church determined earthly life and, above all, art in those days. Finally, at the "Batterie Linde" you can enjoy, if not the luxury of a lord of the castle, then at least the same view over Passau.
