Trachtenmuseum (Museum of traditional costumes)
The "splendour of traditional costume" is celebrated in the Ochsenfurt Gau. The most richly decorated costume in Lower Franconia is not without reason one of the best-known folk costumes in Bavaria. And it is one of the most changeable: depending on the workmanship and colour of individual components, it can be an expression of joy or mourning, festive or working day. Fabrics such as cashmere, satin or silk, but above all the magnificent garnet cross pendants, bear witness to the wealth of the peasant woman.
The Trachtenmuseum (Museum of traditional costumes) in the Greisinghaus, dating from 1717, shows the traditional costume in all its variations, accompanied by accessories such as pearl gloves, prayer books, embroidered shoes and stockings with elaborate knitting patterns.
