Töpfermuseum Thurnau (Pottery Museum Thurnau)
Visitors to the Töpfermuseum Thurnau (Pottery Museum Thurnau) can find out what a hare roast pan looks like, what a "lying Kassel kiln" is or why clay is trodden and beaten with feet - all this and much more. Pottery has played a major role in the economic life of the market town since the late 16th century. The building of the former Latin school, which houses the museum, is just as old. A special feature here is the "black kitchen", which has been preserved from the time it was built. This specialised museum presents the range of shapes, the potters and their working techniques from clay preparation to firing.
