Subtropical Bavaria? 9 million years ago, that was reality. Numerous remains of fossil leaves found near Aubenham tell of this. In an outdoor showcase, finds and explanatory texts can be seen as "Tertiärwelt Aubenham" (Tertiary World Aubenham). A small idea of what the forest may once have looked like is conveyed by the "Tertiary Forest" opposite, which was planted with similar tree species that are native here today.
