Stadtmuseum Schwabach (Schwabach City Museum)
All that glitters is not gold? At Stadtmuseum Schwabach (Schwabach City Museum) it is! The heart of the museum is a walk-in box covered in real gold leaf, which conceals a gold beating workshop. Schwabach is world-famous for its centuries-old gold and metal processing. In the permanent exhibition, visitors can learn all about the production of gold leaf, needles, nails, screws, springs and wire and even watch the painstaking gold leaf production process. And you almost expect to find the golden goose from the fairy tale, because in addition to the gold, there is probably the world's largest egg exhibition to marvel at: from Easter eggs to egg artworks and curiosities to precious Fabergé eggs. Of course, Schwabach's town history is not to be missed, and fans of classic toys and model railways will get their money's worth in the section dedicated to the Fleischmann brothers' toy company.
