Stadtmuseum Lindau (Lindau City Museum)
One of the most beautiful baroque town houses on Lake Constance, the "Haus zum Cavazzen", built in 1729, houses the Stadtmuseum Lindau (Lindau City Museum). The eventful history of the former free imperial city can be experienced here as if in a mixture of local history museum and cabinet of curiosities: the history of the city meets a collection of clocks and historical toys, furniture and household effects meet popular piety. Historical views of the town and patrician portraits also tell of the life of Lindau's citizens in past centuries. Fascinating evidence of a largely forgotten chapter of our technical and cultural history is the collection of mechanical musical instruments with barrel organs and music boxes, railway station automatons with dancing dolls, a sounding beer barrel and more.
