Stadtmuseum im Martinsheim (City museum in Martinsheim)
An inconspicuous piece of cloth, and yet so significant: the christening robe of Clemens Wenzeslaus - Elector, Prince Bishop of Augsburg, "summer visitor" in Marktoberdorf, and a course-setter for the prosperity of the town from the 18th century to the present day. The Stadtmuseum im Martinsheim (City museum in Martinsheim) vividly shows how a seemingly insignificant object can become an exciting part of the big story. Using small portions, it makes local history vivid, colourful and comprehensible. Be it life in a Roman villa rustica or fashion from the 19th century, be it a mobile cot or a "diesel horse" from 1949. And in the end, everything leads back to Clemens Wenzeslaus.
