Along the city wall, on Germany's only completely preserved covered walkway, you can walk completely around Nördlingen's old town (2.6 km). In one of the gate towers dating from 1379, the Stadtmauermuseum (City Wall Museum) provides information on the functioning and special features of the medieval city wall and weaponry techniques from the 17th to the 19th century. The tower itself offers a wide view of the old town and the meteorite crater.
