A touch of the Far East in the centre of Würzburg: to commemorate the Würzburg doctor and Japan researcher Philipp Franz Balthasar von Siebold (1796-1866) and his significant achievements in the exploration of Japan, the Siebold-Museum (Siebold Museum) was opened in the city of his birth. The permanent exhibition shows exhibits from the German and Japanese phases of the researcher's life as well as other members of his family, including other important doctors and scholars.
