Schloss Weissenstein in Pommersfelden (Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden)
With its galleries of paintings, its complete interior decoration and its impressive architecture, Schloss Weissenstein in Pommersfelden (Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden) is a representative showpiece of Franconian Baroque. It was built between 1711 and 1718 by Johann Dientzenhofer. The builder, Prince-Bishop Lothar Franz v. Schönborn, was a passionate art collector. In addition to outstanding Italian and German works, the gallery with its approximately 500 paintings also contains an impressive number of Dutch and Flemish works from the 16th to the 18th century.
