Schloss Unteraufseß (Unteraufseß Castle)
The castle, first mentioned in documents in the early 12th century, is still owned by the von Aufseß family today. Of particular interest among the historic rooms is the castle chapel, which was built in 1840 for the house church service. In the Hall of Ancestors, you can see portraits of Hans Freiherr von und zu Aufseß (1801-1872), the founder of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (Germanic National Museum), who lived in the castle in the 19th century.
