Das Fürstentum Pfalz-Neuburg im Schlossmuseum Neuburg ("The Principality of Palatinate-Neuburg" at Neuburg Castle Museum)
The main floor of the east wing is dedicated to the Principality of Palatinate-Neuburg. The impressive panorama of princely history from the foundation of the principality in 1505 to the First World War unfolds in the former living and state rooms of the princes. Around 550 works of art - portraits and valuable tapestries, weapons, furniture and precious handicrafts - illustrate an exciting chapter of Palatinate-Bavarian history. The focus is on the era of Ottheinrich, the founder of the palace, including tapestries from the Count Palatine's famous art collection, as well as the time of Philipp Wilhelm of Palatinate-Neuburg and his sons Johann Wilhelm and Karl III Philipp, who built the Baroque east wing. The magnificent Renaissance Knights' Hall and the Rococo stucco ceilings in the sequence of rooms illustrate the art of decoration of these epochs.
