Schiefermuseum - Hermann-Söllner-Stiftung (Slate Museum - Hermann Söllner Foundation)
Europe, Africa, Asia and America - the whole world once learned to write on tablets from Ludwigsstadt. In the 19th century, the region around Ludwigsstadt profited greatly from the mining of the Thuringian-Franconian slate mountains. The slate museum shows interesting, informative and also mysterious facts about the "blue gold", which is good for so much more than the legendary squeaky writing surface: tools, electrical insulating plates, arts and crafts articles, raw material for industry, roof shingles and much more. But also the mining and the social history associated with it are thematised.
