What was it like when the Bavarian tribal duchy replaced Roman rule in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps? Visitors literally come into contact with history, its people and their legacy layer by layer, using all their senses: seeing, hearing, touching ... This "journey through time" is made possible by a drawer system, with the help of which the SchichtWerk also quotes the core element of archaeology - stratigraphy. The finds range from the early imperial period to the late Roman colonisation, while a court burial site and a craftsmen's settlement from the early Middle Ages, which was occupied from the end of the 6th century until the High Middle Ages, are represented. Active exploration at hands-on stations and play scenes in video or radio plays allow visitors to delve further into the past.
