It would have been a great pity if the Fichtelgebirgsverein had not saved the Scherzenmühle (Scherzenmühle), as it was one of the few old German grain mills (dating back to the 16th century) that needed to be preserved. Today, the mill with its two water wheels regularly opens its doors to show how grain was ground into flour around 1900 and how the miller lived and farmed on the side.
