Scherer-Galerie und Heimatmuseum Reischenau (Scherer Gallery and Museum of Local History Reischenau)
Joseph Scherer (1814-1891) from Ettelried was one of the most important glass painters of the 19th century, with commissions from all over Europe and even America. Together with his brothers Alois, Leo and Sebastian as well as his nephew Johann, he created, among other things, the windows in the Stuttgart Collegiate Church. The brothers were also active as painters, and Joseph painted frescoes in the residence of King Otto of Greece in Athens. The Scherer Gallery in the Zehentstadel displays a large part of the estate of the painter brothers: sketches, drawings, drafts, cartoons and stained glass windows from the castle chapel in Dinkelscherben. In addition, the Museum of Local History houses a collection of local historical evidence from the prehistoric and early times of Dinkelscherben as well as exhibits on everyday rural life in the 18th and 19th centuries in the Reischenau, the landscape around Dinkelscherben.
