Look into the eyes (cave) of a 10-million-year-old primeval elephant, admire the rare archaeopteryx bird or marvel at the largest and smallest dinosaurs in Bavaria: the Palaeontological Museum takes its visitors into the fascinating world of prehistory. Collections have been made here since the 18th century, and so there are numerous treasures from the evolutionary history of vertebrates, from reptile skeletons from the time before the dinosaurs to mammals from the more recent history of the earth such as sabre-toothed tigers, cave bears and giant deer. And there is also a section dedicated to the former plant world in Bavaria.
