The exterior is deceptive - behind the modern façade of the Museum Quintana, a whole 7,000 years of Künzing's history await the visitor. The tour begins with finds from the Neolithic Age and a model of the gigantic circular ditch discovered here. The metal ages are represented by important finds from an Urnfield burial ground and a replica of a pottery kiln from the Latène period. As part of the Roman Danube Limes, an auxiliary fort with a garrison of 500 men was built in 90 AD in what was then Quintana/Quintanis (Künzing). Weapons, equipment and everyday objects tell of the life of the soldiers and the civilian population in the surrounding settlement. The biography of St. Severin tells of the saint's stay in Quintana during the turmoil of the Migration Period. His experiences as well as important archaeological finds paint a vivid picture of Künzing in late antiquity. In the early Middle Ages, new Germanic settlers ushered in the Bavarian period. Their costume and equipment are revealed in finds from a large burial ground.
