You don't have to become an astronaut to touch cosmic matter - a visit to the Museum Mineralogia München. Crystals in nature and technology is enough! Here, a 289 kg iron meteorite from Namibia invites you to "grasp" it with your hands, amidst rare stony meteorites from Mars and the moon. The surrounding showcases are also a little "otherworldly", with colourful glittering gemstones and fluorescent minerals waiting for visitors. With the accompanying explanations and interactive experimental arrangements as well as changing special exhibitions (for which the permanent exhibition is sometimes dismantled), the museum, as part of the Mineralogische Staatssammlung München (Munich State Mineralogical Collection), provides an exciting introduction to the science of mineralogy.
