Museum Johanniskapelle "Kunst und Geist der Gotik" (Museum St. John's Chapel "Art and Spirit of the Gothic".)
St. John's Chapel in Gerolzhofen, built in 1497, provides the perfect setting for a museum that focuses on the artistic development of the Gothic period, primarily in the Franconian region. Loans from various museums and from the art collection of the Diocese of Würzburg complement the holdings from the Catholic parish of Gerolzhofen, and so valuable sculptures, reliefs and wooden panel paintings by Tilmann Riemenschneider and Hans Schäufelein, among others, but also bells, a Gothic Bible and liturgical utensils vividly tell of "Gothic art and spirit".
