Museum Bürgstadt

Special features:
Free entry.

Timelines relate local historical events to those of church history and national history. In this way, the museum vividly and seamlessly depicts the history of the region, beginning in prehistoric times and continuing through many centuries to the present day. Some particularly important topics are presented separately on the ground floor and upper floor and are clearly distinguished from one another.

Another interesting location is the ‘Alte Mittelmühle’ (old middle mill), which was first mentioned in 1248. The current building was constructed around 1900, but the millrace running through the house may be older. The heavy millstone in front of the entrance was found on the banks of the Erf river and comes from the Obermühle (upper mill) that sank at ‘Michelswasser’ in 1732.

At the rear of the museum, the façade of a former furniture factory has been converted into an exhibition space for pictures depicting the industrial history of Bürgstadt. The circular trail, which is complemented by attractive flower beds, also features illustrations from the world of legends and fairy tales, created by schoolchildren from Bürgstadt. The trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs and offers benches for visitors to relax on.
