Museum Aschenbrenner
The porcelain and doll collection built up by Marianne Aschenbrenner can be seen in her former home together with a nativity scene exhibition. A rococo pug is the showpiece of the porcelain collection, which features works by two of the most important modellers of the time, Johann Joachim Kändler (1706-1775) and Johann Peter Melchior (1747-1825). It documents the early days of porcelain in the 18th century and provides insights into the famous Meissen manufactory. The doll department takes visitors into the world of the 19th century. The history of dolls - from noble fashion ladies from France to the play dolls of Käthe Kruse - also reflects the developments in fashion and educational ideals. Eleven large nativity scenes from four centuries as well as numerous smaller nativity scenes, nativity figures and valuable monastery works adorn the nativity scene exhibition. The main focus here is on the nativity scene tradition in the Werdenfelser Land.
