Monacensia (Munich Literary Archive and Library)
The Monacensia is the literary archive of the city of Munich and is regarded as the city's literary memory. It functions not only as an archive and library, but also as an exhibition centre and place of study. The collection currently comprises around 300 literary estates and collections of renowned writers, scholars, artists and personalities who are closely associated with Munich. Among the centrepieces are the archives of Klaus and Erika Mann, making the Monacensia an important research centre for the Mann family.
Through various forms of literary education such as changing thematic exhibitions, guided tours, readings, lectures, seminars and symposia, the Monacensia opens its collections to the public and invites visitors to discover Munich's rich literary history.
The reading room of the literary archive will be closed from Monday, 15 April to Friday, 14 June 2024.
