LindenbaumMuseum (Lime Tree Museum)
There is probably no tree more closely associated with Bavarian village culture than the lime tree. Alongside the church, it was the centre of the village. Under its canopy, people held markets and court, danced and celebrated. A special variant, which is mainly found in Franconia, are the so-called "guided lime trees" or "stepped lime trees": With the help of beams and pillars, the living tree was pruned into a structure over decades, creating an arbour with a floor, ceiling and walls in its crown. The LindenbaumMuseum (Lime Tree Museum) shows the different forms and shapes of these tree structures in the form of models, computer animations and films.
