Kunstpavillon im alten Botanischen Garten (Art pavilion in the old botanical garden)
The Kunstpavillon in the "Old Botanical Garden" offers more than just exhibition space in the middle of an inner-city park. With its exposed yet somewhat hidden location on Sophienstraße, it is, as it were, the entrance to Munich's art mile. As an art pavilion, it is an exhibition building with a chequered history. As the Producers' Pavilion, it is a workshop for visual artists from various disciplines. As a forum pavilion, it has been an open space for discussions and critical debates for almost 60 years. What distinguishes the pavilion from art halls and galleries is not only its chequered history. It is run by artists and aims to offer neither art hall nor pure gallery exhibitions, but to show processes. It wants to convey culture in a different way.
