Kunstmuseum Walter (Walter Art Museum)
The Kunstmuseum Walter im Glaspalast (Walter Art Museum in the Glass Palace) is a privately run museum dedicated to modern and contemporary art. With no public funding, its collection of over 1,600 works invites visitors on a fascinating journey through the art history of the 20th and 21st centuries. Works from Germany, Europe and America are presented with a special focus on the art of the world-famous Leipzig School. In addition to this unique collection, the museum also exhibits important works of classical modernism from the first half of the 20th century.
The Walter Collection brings the juxtaposition of Eastern and Western art to life in the extraordinary architecture of the historic glass palace with its high, light-flooded rooms. Here, the works of art are shown to their best advantage in an impressive way and invite visitors to enjoy an exciting tour.
