The mission of the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie (Art Forum East German Gallery) is to preserve, research and communicate the art and culture of the German population groups in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe before the Second World War and their artistic heritage. At the same time, it focuses on contemporary art in Eastern Europe. Lovis Corinth, Käthe Kollwitz, Max Pechstein and Katharina Sieverding, for example, are among the renowned artists who characterise the museum's extensive collection. Covering a total of 2000 square metres, the permanent collection is regularly supplemented by special exhibitions from the collection.
