Kunst- und Gewerbeverein (Arts and Crafts Association)
The Kunst- und Gewerbeverein Regensburg e.V. is one of the oldest associations of its kind in Germany. Originating from a merger between the Kunstverein (founded in 1838) and the Gewerbeverein Regensburg (founded in 1847/48), it has always been committed to its statutory objective of promoting and communicating fine and applied arts, and its spacious exhibition rooms are located in the association's own building on Ludwigstraße in the centre of Regensburg's old town. The "Kunst- und Gewerbehaus" forms the essential basis of the organisation's existence and creates the conditions for numerous activities. Here, many artists are offered a stage to present their creative work to a broad public. The multifaceted exhibition programme (approx. 6-7 exhibitions per year) shows a clear profile and sets new creative accents. The Kunst- und Gewerbeverein (Art and trade association) thus makes an important contribution to the art and cultural life of the city of Regensburg and the region of Eastern Bavaria.
