Kreismuseum Bogenberg (District Museum Bogenberg)
Bavaria would not be Bavaria as we know it if it were not for the arch - for this is where the Bavarian lozenges originated.
Their history, from their origins with the Counts of Windberg-Bogen to their use by the Wittelsbach dynasty and in the Bavarian coat of arms, to Bavaria's emblem par excellence, is one of the main themes of the museum of the district of Straubing-Bogen, which has a supra-regional focus.
The second focus of the exhibition in the former Pfarrstadel near the pilgrimage church is the Bogenberg as the Holy Mountain of Lower Bavaria and the seat of one of the oldest Bavarian Marian pilgrimages: The unusual miraculous image of a pregnant Mother of God, the sacred and excursion landscape of Bogenberg, the Holzkirchen Whitsun pilgrimage with the "long Stang", trade, commerce and sacred art convey a broad impression of centuries of popular devotion.
