Kreisgalerie im Alten Spital (Circle Gallery in the Old Hospital)
Graphics next to paintings and sculptures, Baroque next to contemporary art ... what may seem arbitrary at first glance soon turns out to be a collection with one great common denominator: all the works come from artists who were native to the Rhön or who were mainly active here.Arranged according to themes, the Circle Gallery thus enables a regional foray through art history on two floors of the Old Hospital dating from 1349. Among them are well-known names such as the Impressionist Hugo v. Habermann (1849-1929), the Baroque sculptors Johann Benedikt Witz (1709-1780) and Johann Josef Kessler (1711-1759) or the grave field painter Johann Peter Herrlein (1722-1799). Temporary exhibitions also show works of contemporary painting - regional and national.
