The magnificent baroque complex of the former Premonstratensian monastery in Roggenburg has remained almost unchanged to this day. The history of the monastery from its foundation in 1126 to its secularisation in 1802 is told by the monastery museum in the former cellarer's rooms. Art treasures from the 17th and 18th centuries from the monastery's furnishings are at the centre of the exhibition: Augsburg goldsmith's work, elaborately embroidered paraments and paintings by the Weißenhorn fresco artists and painters Franz Martin Kuen and Konrad Huber. The museum provides an insight into the rich monastic culture of Swabia using the example of the former imperial monastery of Roggenburg.
