Handmade bobbin lace fans, capes and floor-length dresses made of the finest bobbin lace vie for the visitors' favour in the historic castle barn at Abenberg Castle. Rarely else can you marvel at the metal bobbin lace in gold and silver in so many pattern variations. But the hard working conditions of the Abenberg bobbin lace makers are also a theme: Pattern books, bobbin lace letters, tools and many historical photos give an idea of the arduous and not very lucrative work of bobbin lace making, which was an important occupation in Abenberg, especially in the 19th century until after the First World War. Interested visitors can also try their hand at lace-making in the museum.
