Keramikmuseum Schloss Obernzell (Ceramics Museum Obernzell Castle)
Obernzell has been known as "Hafnerzell" since the Middle Ages because of its important pottery production. And is therefore the perfect place to trace the development of handmade ceramics - especially in Lower Bavaria - from the Neolithic Age to the present day with the help of around 1200 exhibits. The museum in the Renaissance palace of the prince-bishops also offers an overview of ceramic techniques, manufacturing processes and uses, right up to industrial production and contemporary ceramics. The museum presents blackware production in Obernzell, which was important throughout Europe and lasted for centuries, artisanal faience production in Dießen am Ammersee, stoneware from Bavaria and earthenware from Lower Bavaria as well as Nymphenburg porcelain.
