Where can I find the right museum for my own interests? When is the house open? What exhibitions are currently running? Is there a children's programme? There is one place to go for these questions about the Bavarian museum landscape. In the Altes Hof, an institution unique in Germany offers orientation within the approximately 1,300 museums in Bavaria: the Infopoint Museums & Palaces in Bavaria. On site, contact persons advise you individually and personally. Brochures on museums and castles, their exhibitions and programmes as well as a selection of castle tickets, books and souvenirs can be found here. Every two months, the Infopoint provides recommendations for interesting excursions in large format: museums, regional and thematic networks of museums or major exhibitions are presented as museum tips via picture flags, which may be accompanied by film and exhibits. Online, the portal museen-bayern.de invites visitors to discover even more museums, castles and exhibition houses with their exhibitions. Attached to the Infopoint is also the permanent multimedia exhibition Munich Imperial Castle, which can be visited free of charge. In the late Gothic vaulted hall, it provides information on the city's history, Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian and the Old Court - the first residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty in Munich.
