Industriemuseum Blaahaus (Industrial Museum Blaahaus)
With the large number of companies based here, Kiefersfelden has a unique industrial history in the Bavarian Alpine region. Coal, iron, scythes, marble and cement: the products from Kiefersfelden are not only diverse, but also show how the region has repeatedly reacted to structural change. This is where the permanent exhibition of the Industrial Museum Blaahaus comes in and is dedicated to the 400-year industrial history of the municipality. The museum building itself - the Blaahaus - is still the most important witness to the industrial tradition: built in 1696 as a residential building for the employees of the ironworks, the building is now a listed building and invites visitors to trace the former everyday life of the workers.
The former living quarters house 13 exhibition areas, which have been dramatised in an appealing way. The individual rooms focus on the history of the coal, iron, scythe, marble and cement industries, as well as socio-cultural topics such as popular theatre, the music tradition and the club landscape. Unique original artefacts such as historical tools for working at the smelting furnaces or costumes from the time of the Passion Play can be discovered in an exhibition area of around 450 m². History is brought to life through multimedia stations, hands-on activities and panoramic photos. The Blaahaus Industrial Museum is aimed at all ages and the whole family. The exhibition is barrier-free and the exhibition texts are also available in English for foreign-language visitors.
