Ikonenmuseum Schloss Autenried (Autenried Castle Icon Museum)
The Icon Museum of the Slavic Institute in Munich is the largest museum of Eastern Christian art outside the Slavic countries and Greece, with over 2000 icons and around 4000 decorative art exhibits, some of which are of international standing - including goldsmith's work, bronze castings, embroidery, vestments, wood carvings and ivory work, as well as manuscripts and a special collection of old Church Slavic prints. The exhibits cover a period from early Christianity to the present, with the main emphasis on the 16th to 19th centuries. In addition, there is a graphic collection of several thousand sheets of iconographic motifs.
