"The thought matured, yes, I want to fly in an aeroplane, straight to America." With these lines of poetry, Hermann Köhl (1888-1938) was welcomed in Pfaffenhofen after he had succeeded in 1928 in making the first east-west Atlantic crossing in a powered aircraft. Today, documents and objects from Köhl's estate commemorate the town's famous honorary citizen.
