Heinz Piontek Museum (Heinz Piontek Museum)
There has been a museum in Lauingen in honor of the writer Heinz Piontek since 2013. The museum was created through local and civic initiative. Visitors are greeted by simple display cases and inconspicuous handwritten or typed pages from the writer's workshop. The glass display case relies on what it has to offer. It relies on the power of the exhibit and the viewer experiences the unexpected magic of personal letters. Testimonies of his life, be it his discharge certificate from captivity as a prisoner of war or his study book from the Philosophical-Theological College in Dillingen, also allow a personal approach to the poet. Photos are playing an increasingly important role in the presentation of literature. They bring the deceased author closer, visualize him directly. This applies to the professional portrait photos, but also to photos from his writing practice. Heinz Piontek's extensive list of books testifies to his immense work capacity. On display are the editions of his works and individual editions of narrative and other prose, all of his 16 volumes of poetry in first edition, including his manuscripts and working copies. The drawings/watercolors, proof of his dual talent as a poet and painter, are a significant part of his later life. At the end of the museum tour, you can listen to the poet's original voice.
